Demo 1 is here! With great news!
Scratch my Back » Devlog
Hello! Long time no see!
Once again, I have new updates about the game, with great news about it's current and future development.
What's new
There is so much this time! The game now includes new mechanics, areas, and more! Take a look at this list:
- A brand new playable section. Level 2 now includes an extended area which swaps to single-screen mode, with new hazards and an elevator ambush!
- EV-500 has all-new art and animations. Now both the players and enemies are being drawn by the same artist, which adds a lot more consistency to the game.
- Developed functionalities for single-screen mode. Like respawns and camera adjustments.
- Bombs now have a bigger explosion range.
- Falling platforms. These platforms tremble when players step on them and fall off-screen seconds after.
- Horizontal mechanical doors.
- Fluid camera movement. The single-screen sections now include a railed-camera movement which adapts to the stage's sections, giving a more comfortable movement to the players.
- Sequenced events. The game includes new sections and mechanics where various events happen in specific order.
- Improved parallax effects.
- Coins and objects consistency. After losing, the players lose the coins and objects that they have collected during the current section of a level.
- The inventory now works with single-screen levels.
- The inventory slides with the rest of the HUD.
- EV-800's IA has been improved. Fixed a bug where EV-800 didn't feel like dashing while other enemies were nearby.
- Trampolines! :D
What's next?
- L-EV-250. A new floating enemy who tries to smash players.
- New hazards.
- The first section of a new level. A city-carnival themed level!
- Detection of different controllers. We want players to have nice controls regardless of what controller they are using.
- All-new sprites for EV-800.
- Grappling hook! A balancing/hanging mechanic, which allows players to reach new areas .
How's the team?
The team is better than ever. We finally got it together and now we´re having regular developing sessions every saturday. We´re also developing the game by our own during the week.
Demo?
These are the new names the public build will have. I consider them less confusing than the previous ones.
Before you go
I hope you have fun playing this new version of the game. We're going to try to publish a new version every month.
See ya!
